Removing my Braces or Attachments

The debanding appointment is an exciting moment as it marks the end of your orthodontic treatment with braces. Here's what you can typically expect during your debanding appointment:
  1. Evaluation: We will evaluate the progress of your treatment by examining how your teeth have shifted and whether they have reached the desired alignment.

  2. Removal of Braces/Attachments: We will carefully remove the brackets and/or wires from your teeth. This process is painless and usually does not cause discomfort.

  3. Cleaning: After the braces / attachments are removed, we will clean your teeth thoroughly to remove any remaining adhesive and polish your teeth. This cleaning might involve using specialized tools to remove any residual bonding material.

  4. Taking Impressions: We will take impressions or digital scans of your teeth to create retainers or for further evaluation of your progress.

  5. Retainers: Following the removal of braces / attachments, you'll likely be fitted for retainers. Retainers are crucial to maintain the new position of your teeth and prevent them from shifting back to their original alignment. We will provide instructions on how and when to wear your retainers.

  6. Final Records: We may take X-rays or photographs of your teeth to document the final results of your treatment for our records.

There will be an additional cost involved for the retainers and final records, this is usually quoted prior to your Orthodontic journey.
